Be named when people ask AI
Your customers no longer ask only Google; they ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity too: "Which company should I hire for this?" GEO is the work that puts you into those answers with accurate information.
What is GEO?
GEO (generative engine optimisation) is the set of practices that help a brand get cited as a source and recommended in the answers generated by AI-powered search and chat tools. The goal is not to rank in a list of results, but for the model to read your page, understand it correctly and mention your name when it builds its answer.
Google’s AI Overviews above the search results, ChatGPT’s web search, Perplexity and Gemini each select their sources differently. What they share is that they value clear, verifiable information, trustworthy sources and a brand that appears consistently across the web.
Why does AI recommend a company?
When a model answers "recommend a web design company in this city", it does not look only at the company’s own website. It weighs business and map listings, customer reviews, directories, news, social profiles and comparison content together. Your own site says where you are and what you do; what others write about you says why you should be recommended.
That is why GEO work happens both on and off your site: on the site, clear information the model can read and quote; off the site, consistent and genuine sources that confirm your brand.
What we do on your site
AI tools quote the part of a page that answers the question, not the whole page. We restructure your service pages so that each section makes sense on its own, and rewrite FAQs into answers that need no surrounding context and state details such as address, service area and scope explicitly.
We add business, service and FAQ structured data (schema.org), set a deliberate policy for AI crawlers in robots.txt, and prepare an llms.txt file that lets models understand your company at a glance. We have applied every one of these steps to our own site.
What we do off your site
Your brand name, address, services and contact details should be identical in your Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, industry and regional directories and social profiles. Inconsistent information leads a model to confuse you with another company — or not to mention you at all.
Because tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot also draw on Bing’s infrastructure for web search, setting up Bing Webmaster Tools and tracking indexing matter as much as the Google side. Third-party sources such as LinkedIn articles, industry publications and customer reviews are part of the plan too.
How we measure
AI answers can change every time a question is asked, so a single try is not a measurement. We define the questions that matter for your business and, every month, ask them several times in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. We report how often and with what information your brand is mentioned, and which competitors and sources stand out.

FAQ
Common questions about GEO
Is GEO replacing SEO?
No — it is built on top of it. Google’s AI Overviews draw largely on pages that already perform well in search; a site with technical problems, or one that is not indexed, struggles to appear in AI answers as well. If the SEO foundation is weak, we start GEO work by strengthening it.
Can you guarantee that ChatGPT recommends my company?
No. AI answers vary by model, question and time; no company can guarantee a specific answer. What we can do is build the conditions under which models find you with accurate information and trust you, and measure the effect regularly.
Should we allow AI bots to crawl our site?
If you want to appear in AI answers, you need to allow the bots that search and cite (for example OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Claude-SearchBot); a blocked site cannot be cited by those tools. Whether to allow bots that collect data for model training is a separate business decision, and we talk through the options with their pros and cons.
What does an llms.txt file do?
llms.txt is a file at the root of your site that summarises your company, services and key pages in plain text that AI systems can read easily. Google states that no such file is needed to appear in its AI Overviews, while some AI tools may make use of it. Since it is easy to set up, we treat it as a small but useful part of the work.
How will we track results?
Every month we ask the agreed questions several times in AI tools and report how often your brand is mentioned, what information it is mentioned with, and which pages are cited. We also track visits from AI tools to your site separately in your analytics.
How is the GEO service priced?
Once the scope is clear — the number of target questions, the current state of the site and the off-site work needed — we send a written proposal. The first meeting and the initial visibility assessment are free of charge.
